What makes Impact important?
The Co-production Impact Steering group workshop 3 of 4, held on Tuesday 28th November was the best yet.
Experts with lived experience Emma Jane, Michael and Jenny from the Pro Active Community, joined Tasnim Rahman and Daniel Kina from Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE) where they shared their insights and views on co-production projects they have worked on over the past year.
Each person told the researchers about their own experiences and how there was so much positive but unexpected impact made, it’s not always the anticipated outcomes to celebrate in a project.
Talking about Peer Health & Well-being Champions, Disability Awareness training for student midwives, trialing and feeding back on Books Beyond Words titles, and the policy work people had created with support staff and peers for Active Prospects.
Who would have guessed Jenny would be able to use the Maternity Passport learning with a family member, and the healthy results from taking part in projects for members reaching weight loss goals, reducing medication, and being offered previously impossible medical interventions. Emma Jane said she had gained confidence in presenting to an audience, in social groups of known and unknown people, and Michael shared the improvement in his own wellbeing from being listened to, feeling valued.
The last session will be in December and the Impact website prototype will be starting to look user friendly!
A central location for all impactful co-produced projects will be such a valuable resource, Pro Active members are proud to be a part of this .
