Advocacy is key
Thank you to Nick Kinsella for facilitating today’s Pro-Active Community meeting Chaired by Matthew Leadbeater.
An interactive and very passioned advocacy presentation hilighting the need for developing an advocacy group and additional training, to empower adults with learning disability, autism or with mental health concerns, to become self or peer advocates.
The session encouraged a look at the history of advocacy and the need to create the right levels of support to speak up, we can learn from what went before, what has worked well and what still needs progressing.
This project is the beginning of a long term framework Nick is co-coproducing with colleagues and Pro Active Community members.
Projects such as this are made possible by generous grants from businesses and donors like the Postcode Society Trust, who gave funding for Pro Active Community to co-create this.
Once the 8 pilot sessions are complete, the plan is to introduce the accessible modules to other adults with learning disability.
