Spreading the word

Great to catch up with Frances Sulikosky, Engagement Coordinator at The Speak Out Team in Brighton and Hove.

The advocates are looking at ways to engage Sussex Taxi Drivers in signing up to the Disability Taxi Charter as they are focusing on the transport issues their members face.

Matthew Leadbeater, Pro-Active Community member currently supporting as Chair Person, spoke to Frances to share the 'road map' the Charter has been on over the past 2 years.

"...members want this to be something all taxi firms sign up to, it's not always about making more money it about being fair and equitable for everyone"

Frances asked why this would be important and something a taxi firm would want to sign up to

" because everyone should be able to see which taxi firms have had Learning Disability awareness training and make the choice to book with a firm who are agreeing to the Charter terms, we want this to be part of the mandatory training for all driver licences"

Members are looking forward to joining Frances at the next partnership meeting where they are looking to talk these ideas through and understand how they can encourage other firms to join too.
