SOLD and Multiply!

Members Robert and Michael joined a group of participants at the Surrey Outdoor Learning and Development Centre (SOLD) in High Ashurst, Surrey, on Day 1 of a 5 week course to improve numeracy skills.

By taking part in number based activities, all those joining the course are learning ways to understand and apply basic numeracy to build confidence and enable better understanding of the importance of maths.

Team tasks included guiding one another around an obstacle course wearing an eye mask, building trust and understanding of one another’s needs, walking together on large boards following instructions and working together to ensure timing worked!

Archery proved to be a firm favourite with members and their staff too, all managed at least one arrow on the target. Adding together individual scores, then team scores helped with some addition skills too.

Huge thank you to Debbie at SOLD for guiding everyone so they could have a great experience and learn so much from one another.

Adventure days like this, with a built in learning aspect, are such a great way to be outdoors and build great life skills, so lucky with the sunshine!
