Off to Spain!

Off to Spain for the second supported cooking for adults course at East Surrey College Pro Active Community members Elizabeth, Robert, Emma Jane, Matthew and Michael joined others from Active Prospects.

🥘Paella was the dish of the day and it was such a brilliantly interactive kitchen this evening as we danced along to the familiar Gypsy Kings while stirring the stock into the rice!!

🧡The people who came along to the first session were so enthusiastic about cooking together, they have encouraged another person to join the classes. So we were 12 together busily sharing cooking tips and yet again trying things for the first time from easier to read recipes.

Learning to cook healthy, easy recipes in this way is encouraging so many soft skills as well as the actual cooking. Everyone supporting each other, sharing equipment, halving ingredients, even helping with chopping or tidying is working together and a really social opportunity too.

“I wasn’t so nervous this week - I knew where things were”

“I’ve never eaten rice like this - I liked cooking it, so easy really”

“Can we make flat breads and curry too, like a “fake away?”

“What did you enjoy most about tonight’s class?”

“Everything - these are the best and I’m making friends”

👏🏼Thank you to head chef Nicola Hoad for her enthusiastic approach to making these first classes really interactive and most of all, learning with individuals requirements at their pace at every stage.

🥘Will you be inspired to make paella when you get home tonight? Buenas noche
