CQC Assessments

CQC are assessing Surrey County Council currently, deep diving into co-production was the topic on 1st August, so Leanne joined Helen Guest at the Surrey meeting, to share her lived experience of how Surrey County Council support adults with learning disability by co-producing services they provide.

Sharing insights into all the projects and events, resources and services, Leanne was able to give a unique perspective on what has gone really well, and what could be even better.

Some of what Leanne shared :-

* How good it has been co-producing resources - easy read projects for adult safe guarding and transport with East Surrey Valuing People Group, particularly the amazing work Amanda Aldridge undertakes

* Events and shared learning partnering with Surrey People’s Group, organising and delivering the Managing my Money event with Pro-Active Community early this year

* Co-hosting and presenting at Learning Disability Partnership Board meetings

* Presenting to LD Health Inequalities Board, invited by Liz Williams to share her experiences of Hospital Passports

* Partnering with Surrey Choices and the Surrey People’s Group members to spread the word about the Disability Taxi Charter and help sign up additional firms, which was made possible by Surrey CC inviting Leanne and fellow PAC members to present at their meeting

* Cutting the ribbon to open the Surrey bike project at Longmead Centre in Redhill- a real hi-light as cycling is such a passion!

All the many positives achieved by working in partnership, sharing experience, resources and ideas were talked about by the 8 people being interviewed, it was enlightening hearing everyone’s perspectives.

Carers, experts by experience and profession, of learning disability, Autism and dementia all came together to provide a broad and varied response to the many questions CQC assessors raised.

👏🏼Thank you to Leanne for taking today to bring so much valuable information.
